If you want to taste what Bonnes-Mares lends to its neighbors, this is the bottle. Les Fuees runs along the southwestern edge of the grand cru at 280 to 300 meters, on the same oolitic limestone with hard stones right at the surface, and Barthod farms just 0.26 hectares of it planted to vines over seventy years old. 2014 gave the Cote de Nuits one of its most classical modern vintages, with the June hail confined to the Cote de Beaune and a cool, clear finish producing wines of firm acidity and fine tannin. The vineyards here are tended by Ghislaine's husband Louis Boillot, and since 2018 their son Clement has taken over the winemaking across both of the family's domaines; the method has not changed, with partial destemming, native yeasts and around twenty months in neutral-leaning barrel. From a private cellar, drinking well now with air and holding through 2030.

"This is slightly riper with a very spicy black currant, orange peel and floral-suffused nose. There is strikingly good delineation to the nicely rich, cool and palate staining medium-bodied flavors that are blessed with sophisticated though markedly firm tannins on the mineral-driven, balanced, velvety and stunningly long finish. This is quite simply terrific."

Antonio Galloni

"The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a fresh, expressive bouquet, showing a mixture of red and black fruit, wild mint and a touch of pain d'épice. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured opening, a little drier than you might expect, especially juxtaposed with recent more fruit-driven vintages. A grainy texture on the saline finish suggests this Chambolle may deserve longer in bottle." —Neal Martin

"Solidly fruity. Lots of dry edginess and very very youthful. Life, but it’s all potential at the moment."
