Jean-Claude Marsanne represents the disappearing artisan tradition: tiny production, minimal intervention, wines that speak of place rather than winemaker ego. His vines average 50 years old on the steep granite slopes of Mauves, one of Saint-Joseph's original communes. Whole-cluster fermentation, aged in old demi-muids. Violets, black olive, cracked pepper, and that unmistakable Northern Rhône savory character. Serve slightly cool with roasted lamb.
