Joseph Colin is one of Marc Colin's sons — younger sibling of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey — and launched his own domaine after working at the family estate, building a quietly growing cult following. La Garenne is a Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru on the upper slope toward Saint-Aubin, known for tension and minerality rather than weight; it tends to keep its cool in warmer years and shine in classical ones. The 2018 vintage was generous and ripe across the Côte de Beaune; here the lift of La Garenne's elevation pulls the fruit into balance. Seven years on, the wine is drinking nicely now with several years more ahead.

Joseph Colin split from the family estate in 2017 and launched his own domaine with 6.5 hectares in Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet. His whole-bunch pressing, native yeasts, and minimalist approach yield 21 different cuvées—a young hand redefining what Côte de Beaune can be.

Roast chicken with butter and fresh herbs, scallops with cauliflower purée, sole meunière, halibut with beurre blanc, or aged Comté and toasted hazelnuts at the cheese course.

Tasting Profile

Yellow apple, ripe pear, white peach and lemon-curd fruit lifted by crushed-stone minerality and a hazelnut frame. Medium-bodied with bright cleansing acidity, restrained oak influence and a long, saline, savory finish.
