A limited-edition amber from one of Georgia's most committed qvevri houses. Kapistoni, a seventh-generation family winery in Kartli, ages every wine in clay vessels buried in the ground rather than steel or oak, the ancient method UNESCO recognizes as Georgian heritage. Mukhamtsvane is a rare indigenous white grape, here given skin contact that builds layers of orchard fruit, nuts and honeyed depth alongside a firm, dry tannic structure. Made in small quantities, it's a chance to taste a grape almost no one outside Georgia grows.

Wine Spectator

89 points

"This shows a bitter hint, but with a more languid feel overall as its argan oil, orange curd and yuzu notes meander through, ending with a wink of quinine on the finish. Drink now through 2027."

More about Kapistoni

Niko Chochishvili, seventh generation of a Georgian winemaking family, founded Kapistoni to reclaim an 8,000-year-old tradition. Using Qvevri vessels and indigenous grapes, he produces 50,000 bottles yearly on ecologically cultivated land near Tbilisi. This is wine that tastes like UNESCO-recognized heritage brought into the modern moment.
