Have a question about this wine or any other in this year's sale?

Laherte Frères’ Champagne “Ultradition” Brut Rosé NV, with a base of 2021, is an elegant and expressive rosé crafted primarily from Pinot Meunier, with smaller portions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This rosé, produced by the saignée method for depth of color and flavor, reflects Laherte Frères’ commitment to biodynamic practices and minimal intervention, showcasing the terroir of the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay and Marne Valley. Vinified in both stainless steel and oak barrels, “Ultradition” Brut Rosé combines freshness with a subtle complexity, making it a versatile, food-friendly Champagne.

On the nose, this Brut Rosé offers inviting aromas of wild strawberries, red currants, and raspberry, complemented by floral notes and a hint of citrus. The palate is lively and refined, featuring flavors of ripe red berries, blood orange, and a touch of minerality, supported by a creamy, fine mousse. The Brut dosage adds a gentle roundness, balancing the wine’s vibrant acidity and enhancing its fresh, dry finish.

Perfect for pairing with charcuterie, grilled salmon, or light poultry dishes, “Ultradition” Brut Rosé brings an approachable elegance to the table. The 2021 base gives it a youthful energy and bright fruit profile, making it an ideal choice for those who appreciate a Champagne that is both expressive and refreshingly balanced.

Aurélien Laherte believes Champagne should be for everyone. We agree.

Along with childhood best friend and fellow rising star, Raphaël Bérèche, they formed Terre de Vins, a down to earth trade organization. They bring together like-minded growers for a yearly tasting of vin clair (still wine, pre-bubbles) and finished Champagne to showcase their progressive wines.

Aurélien makes wines of power and whimsy, decadence and tension. Maybe it is because of his biodynamic approach, maybe it was his training with Antoine Sélosse or maybe he is simply one of the best vignerons in Champagne. No matter the reason, take advantage of this newsletter only pricing to experience it for yourself.

All of his wines are aged in neutral barrels, do not go through malolactic fermentation and have just enough dosage to balance the wine and showcase the terroir.

Seventh generation winegrower Aurélien Laherte is part of a dynamic, young generation making waves in Champagne and producing a fine array of terroir-driven Champagnes using a natural approach to viticulture and winemaking. Since taking the helm of his family’s estate in 2005, Aurelien has been a devoted practitioner of organic and biodynamic viticulture, striving to produce a lineup of blended and single-vineyard Champagnes that deeply expresses the identities of his unique terroirs. The vibrant, energetic and racy profile of Laherte Frères Champagnes has earned Aurélien a reputations as a rising star in the region.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The NV Brut Rosé Ultradition (Meunier) is a very pretty, delicate wine. Crushed red berry fruit, spice, cedar, sweet spice, tobacco and dried flowers all grace this understated, wonderfully classy Rosé from Laherte. Lifted, perfumed aromatics and silky contours add to its considerable appeal. The Ultradition is a total delight. This release is 60% 2019 and 40% 2018. As always, the Ultradition Rosé is a blend of components that are vinified blanc (60%), with maceration (30%) and saignée (10%). Dosage is 6-8 grams per liter." -Vinous

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
