Latour-Giraud is the largest landholder in Meursault's Genevrieres, and this is their flagship - the wine they're best known for, and the one that announces what the domaine can do. Jean-Pierre Latour runs the family estate today, and Genevrieres in his hands tends toward the opulent, exotic side of Meursault that the cru is famous for: rich without being heavy, layered without losing focus. The 2020 vintage gave Burgundy whites a little more flesh than usual, and you can feel it here, but the underlying mineral spine keeps everything in line. A serious wine from a serious site.

Burghound

94 points

"Like the Poruzots, there is a noticeable phenolic character to the slightly riper aromas of jasmine tea, white peach and floral nuances. The gorgeously textured medium weight flavors possess excellent mid-palate density along with ample minerality that adds a sense of lift to the bone-dry, moderately austere and impressively long finale. This too will need to develop more depth though if it does it could well merit the upper end of my projected range as this is really quite stylish."
