Old vines from 1968 at elevation unlock something extraordinary—this is Le Ragnaie’s most concentrated and structured expression. Planted on quartz-rich soils at 600 meters, the Vigna Vecchia block delivers dark fruit, rose, spice, and baked clay with the kind of mineral intensity that speaks to age and terroir. This is the crown jewel of the estate, a wine that demands patience but rewards it with profound complexity and grip.

More about Le Ragnaie

Riccardo Campinoti farms the highest-altitude vines in Brunello—up to 655 meters—where regulations say you can't go. His Troncone Sangiovese, an IGT for refusing to play by the rules, has cranberry brightness and stony minerality that prove his point perfectly.

Tasting Profile

Gregory Gouges is a very fortunate young man. He has free rein at one of the most historic domains in all of the Cote D'Or. There is a brand new state of the art gravity driven cuverie that his predecessors built after years of careful planning. The family vineyards encompass some of the greatest terroirs in Nuits Saint Georges including the 3.5 hectare Monopole "Clos des Porrets Saint Georges". The parcels are large and the vines are mature and in fantastic health.

The style at Gouges has been updated. For years, heavy extraction resulted in tannic wines that took many years to come around. If you ever come across old bottles, they are fantastic. Under Gregory Gouges, the tannins are managed more carefully and the wines are now made in a style with greater emphasis on finesse and fruit purity, allowing the greatness of Gouges' terroir to really shine.
