The Brunel family, with viticultural roots stretching back generations in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, created the Les Cailloux label in 1954, and the 2005 Cuvée Centenaire shows why—a Grenache-based blend (80%) with Mourvèdre and Syrah that captures the garrigue-scented power of the appellation. Checking in as a blend of 70% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and the rest Cinsault, aged mostly in tank, if gives up a ripe, sexy and medium to full-bodied style to go with classic red and black raspberry fruit, garrigue, pepper and spice.
