From vineyards planted on a gently sloped, well draining, south facing hillside of clay and limestone. The wines here are more angular structure and slightly higher toned fruit. The vines were mostly re-planted around 1980 (although many older vines are still kicking around).
Sure doesn't shy away from tannin but I can't (or can I?) wait for it to resolve. This is JUST starting to open up and show its potential and an absolute stunner. Black and red flavors swirl around looking for an opening: licorice, mushroom with crunchy cranberry, searingly tart acid, and high but refined slicing tannins. Even with all that structure and punch-yness there is still a delicate nature to the aromatics and the finish. A wine that will go the distance in your but give me a steak so I can enjoy it now.
