In an amazing night of Portuguese wine (see below), we're welcoming Bárbara Monteiro of Mainova Wines to our mezzanine for a seminar and tasting of these delicious, low-intervention wines.
Located in the Alto Alentejo area, Herdade da Fonte Santa has seen centuries of preservation of its soil, and now with the delicate hand of Bárbara Monteiro and her team (including winemaker Antonio Maçanita), this generous soil is giving birth to incredibly fresh and expressive wines.
A terroir dominated by shale and granite, the Mainova estate operates in a unique ecosystem. Out of their 20 hectares of vines planted with traditional Portuguese grape varieties, 17.5ha are in integrated production and 2.5ha in organic production regimes.
The entire harvest is manual and nocturnal, thus providing greater care for the grapes and a more careful selection. The winemaking process focuses on spontaneous fermentation, low sulfite use and overall minimal human intervention.
We will taste through Mainova's lineup with Bárbara while enjoying light bites. The cost of this seminar is $30 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us at 5:30pm on Monday, October 21 for this special evening.
After the seminar, why not keep the Portuguese wine adventure going: Our friends at Craft are hosting winemaker Luis Pato for an amazing winemaker's dinner.
