Marcel Lapierre helped spark the natural wine revolution, and his Morgon remains one of the most beloved bottles in all of Beaujolais. Now made by his son Mathieu, the wine still honors Marcel’s vision: old-vine Gamay, grown organically on granite soils in the heart of Morgon, fermented with native yeasts and bottled with minimal sulfur (or none at all, depending on the cuvée).
The 2023 vintage is especially lively—crunchy red cherry, raspberry, violets, and a touch of spice, with silky tannins and that lifted, slightly herbal edge that makes Lapierre’s wines so distinctive. It’s juicy and joyful with a chill, but has enough structure and soul to reward more thoughtful sipping, too.
Perfect with charcuterie, roast chicken, picnic fare, or just good company. This is Beaujolais as it was meant to be: alive, unpretentious, and endlessly drinkable.
