Ognostro is Marco Tinessa’s passion project: a tiny-production, hands-off Aglianico made from organically farmed vineyards in Montemarano (Irpinia), one of the grape’s most historic strongholds. The name “Ognostro” (Neapolitan for “ink”) hints at the wine’s deep color and intense personality.

In the 2022 vintage, the wine is particularly expressive—black plum, sour cherry, and wild herbs meet iron, leather, and volcanic earth. There’s plenty of Aglianico’s hallmark tannic structure, but with juicy acidity and a raw, unfiltered texture that keeps it energetic. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in a mix of tank and old oak, it's bottled with little or no sulfur and no fining or filtration.

This is natural wine with real roots—serious and age-worthy, but wild and engaging right now. Pair it with grilled lamb, slow-cooked pork, or hearty vegetable dishes. Or decant and sip slowly—Ognostro Rosso rewards patience and curiosity.
