Steve Matthiasson is a top Napa viticultural consultant since 1995, having worked with legendary estates like Araujo, Dalla Valle, and Spottswoode. In 2003, he and wife Jill founded Matthiasson Family Vineyards, a proudly independent operation focused on purity, sense of place, and respect for land and people. Steve—a former SF bike messenger with an MS in Horticulture (Pest Management, Trees/Vines) from UC Davis—brings anthropological curiosity and scientific rigor to winemaking. Organic farming and regenerative practices are foundational. The 2014 Cabernet represents the estate's refined approach: elegant, expressive of place, and delicious.
