The Napa Valley White blend showcases Matthiasson's philosophy of combining familiar and alternative varieties. This blend—48% Sauvignon Blanc, 26% Ribolla Gialla, 24% Semillon, 2% Tocai Friulano—represents a Friuli-inspired approach: Sauvignon Blanc providing clean, fresh citrus and tropical character; Ribolla Gialla adding seashell minerality, nuttiness, and structure; Semillon contributing viscosity and weight; and Tocai Friulano providing spicy, aromatic notes.

The 2014 blend represents a moment in California winemaking when alternative blends were becoming more common. At 12 years old, the wine shows how well-integrated blends age: the individual components have melded into something harmonious and complex. This is food-friendly but never boring, complex but never overwrought. The balance between fresh acidity and textural richness makes this a wine for adventurous dinners—seafood, lighter preparations, or vegetable-forward plates. The Friuli inspiration shows in the wine's structure and minerality; the California terroir shows in the ripeness and generosity.
