Maxime Cheurlin, the rising-star winemaker behind Domaine Georges Noëllat, brings his Vosne-Romanée pedigree to this humble-labeled but beautifully made Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge. Sourced from elevated vineyards west of the Côte d'Or escarpment, this wine delivers classic Pinot purity with surprising depth and flair.
The 2022 vintage was warm and generous, and Cheurlin’s style—typically plush, aromatic, and glossy—shows through here. The wine is 100% Pinot Noir, fermented with partial whole clusters, and aged in French oak barrels, with a light hand on the new wood (typically around 10–20%). Farming is sustainable, in line with his approach at the domaine.
In the glass, it’s bright and floral, with notes of crushed red berries, rose petal, and a touch of spice, backed by silky tannins and a lively finish. It drinks more like a Côte de Nuits village wine than your average regional bottling, and it’s a great intro to Cheurlin’s style without the Premier Cru price tag.
