One of our favorite Portuguese wine suppliers is coming back to the mezzanine by popular demand! Lewis Kopman, cofounder of importer GK Selections, taught a great seminar last year on this exciting, up-and-coming wine nation. In February 2025, he's back, this time for a deeper dive on the wines of Portugal.
Lewis Kopman spent many years as a fine-and-rare buyer and private client specialist at Le Du's Wines in the West Village, where he fell in love with the great wines of Portugal. In 2022 he left his job as a retailer to found GK Selections, focused on highlighting the very best wines of Portugal and bringing them to the US market. He travels and tastes extensively in Portugal and brings his discoveries to fantastic restaurants and retailers across the US.
We will taste through several some of the most exciting wines coming from Portugal as we learn more about its diverse geography, terroir and microclimates, while enjoying light bites. The cost of this seminar is $30 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us at 6pm on Thursday, February 13 for this special evening.
Yvon Metras has long been Beaujolais' elusive man of mystery. To French winemakers (and drinkers) he is, along with neighbors Lapierre and Foillard, one of the "fathers of natural wine".
La is Lara Rochetti, Lu is Luisa Sala. Together they are Lalu, and today they make extremely sought-after Nebbiolo and Barolo. We have the Nebbiolo for you today.
These first few days of the new year, we all have New Year’s resolutions in mind. But not every resolution has to involve a gym membership, or a new diet, or taking up a new hobby — your resolution could be as simple as broadening your wine-drinking horizons. We’ve put together a little primer to help you do just that.
