A magnum of Produttori's Rabajà Riserva — released only in the best vintages from this single Barbaresco cru, after extended botti aging. 2008 was a solid classical Barbaresco vintage, and seventeen years on this is squarely in its drinking window. Rabajà is one of Barbaresco's most powerful and structured crus — Bruno Rocca, Giuseppe Cortese, and the Produttori all bottle it separately — and the magnum format will have kept this one slow and dense. The Produttori cooperative was founded in 1958 and represents one of the great quality-to-pricing stories in Italian wine: cru-level fruit from sixty-plus member families, vinified with the same care a great single estate would provide. A serious bottle of mature Barbaresco for a serious table.

Antonio Galloni

96 points

"The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja is utterly magnificent in this vintage. Usually a powerhouse, the 2008 is incredibly refined to the point it seems to literally hover on the palate. It is a wine of exquisite grace and beauty. All the elements are in place. I could describe the aromas and flavors, but that would be doing this majestic Barbaresco a huge disservice. Ultimately, the 2008 Rabaja, is all about textural finesse and pure elegance. This is another breathtaking wine from the Produttori. A king among kings." —Antonio Galloni

Wine Spectator

89 points

"Classically proportioned, offering sweet cherry, berry and licorice aromas and flavors backed by solid tannins. Bright and medium-bodied, with a dry, chewy finish. Best from 2014 through 2025." —Bruce Sanderson

Kerin O'Keefe

94 points

"Aromas of underbrush, leather, crushed blue flower, incense and balsamic notes lead the nose on this gorgeous wine. The palate delivers succulent black cherry layered with white pepper and clove alongside bracing tannins." —Kerin O'Keefe

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Built for a long Sunday lunch — brasato al Barbaresco, roast guinea fowl, mushroom-rich risotto, or aged Castelmagno. The magnum makes it a centerpiece bottle for a table of six to ten.

Tasting Profile

Structured and savory: dark cherry, dried rose, tar, leather, sweet earth, a faint cocoa note. Tannins still present but resolving, finish long and grippy. Powerful Rabajà in mature dress, slowed beautifully by the magnum.
