Produttori del Barbaresco is the legendary cooperative founded in 1958 by small Barbaresco growers; in strong years they release nine single-cru Riservas after roughly five years of aging (three years in large Slavonian botti plus six to twelve months in bottle). Rabajà is one of the named grand crus of the village, prized for its structured frame and long aging arc. The 2008 vintage was a textbook classical year in Piedmont — bright acidity, firm tannins, real focus — and seventeen years on, this Rabajà is just entering its broad drinking window: tannins now properly resolved, tertiary aromatics emerging, plenty of upside still in the bottle. As honest a portrait of classical-vintage cru Barbaresco as you'll find anywhere.

"Good bright medium red. Highly perfumed nose offers redcurrant, cherry, rose petal and mint. Suave on entry, then juicy and fine-grained in the expanding mid-palate, offering captivating inner-mouth perfume to the primary red fruit and floral flavors. Very stylish, almost Chambolle-like Barbaresco, finishing with fine tannins that are virtually invisible and building floral and blood orange perfume.
