If Wine 421 is the serious elder sibling, Sol is the graceful charmer—a wine that proves Sauvignon Blanc can be both mineral-driven and voluptuous. This comes from a 30-year-old vineyard planted in calcareous soil, a site that bestows a roundness you won't find in other Gnemiz parcels. Whole-cluster pressing and barrel fermentation give Sol its signature polish, but what makes this wine sing is the terroir conversation: limestone soil versus the marl-dominated parcels creates a distinctly different expression within the same estate. The 2024 shows bright citrus and white stone fruits with a soft, almost creamy mid-palate—yet the minerality and acidity cut through rich dishes with precision. It's the wine that makes you understand why Friuli Sauvignon commands such respect among wine professionals. Sol means sun in Italian, and this wine captures that warmth without losing its crystalline focus.

Ronco del Gnemiz sits atop Rosazzo hill in Friuli's Colli Orientali, where Serena Palazzolo and her sons (with winemaker Christian Patat) farm organically on Ponca sandstone soils. White wines with bright acidity, carefully oaked reds in the Bordeaux style, all marked by mineral intensity. The vineyard is 60 years old, yields are kept low, and the wines can age for three to five years. This is northern Italian precision.
