’T Voetpad is Sadie’s most remote and historic site, a field blend planted from 1887 to 1928 in the Citrusdal Mountains. This dry-farmed vineyard lies on sandstone soils at high elevation, nourished by an underground spring. Grapes are picked and co-fermented in old foudre to preserve site character.

The 2024 blend includes Semillon, Palomino, Chenin Blanc, and others. It’s the smallest cuvée in the Old Vine Series and among the most expressive of South Africa’s viticultural heritage.

More about Sadie Family Wines

Eben Sadie is basically the philosophical heart of the Swartland—obsessed with terroir, determined to prove South Africa deserves respect. His flagship Columella is one of the best red wines from South Africa, blended from Rhône varieties and aged in concrete amphorae, eggs, cubes, and old oak. Organic and biodynamic farming, natural yeasts, a basket press. All decisions made to let the soil speak. This is serious winemaking.

Tasting Profile

Rustic red blend with red cherry, herb, and spicy notes; medium body with dusty tannins and an earthy, slightly funky finish that's complex and dry.
