On Monday, March 3, we're thrilled to be hosting a terroir masterclass on our mezzanine starring world-renowned terroir specialist Pedro Parra and Daniel Landi of rock-star Gredos producer Comando G.
Together they will guide us through a flight of Comando G and Pedro Parra wines that express unique soil types, and we'll learn how these terroirs influence what's in the glass. It's hard to imagine two better-suited speakers on the topic of terroir, the sense of place or "somewhereness" in wine. This masterclass is not to be missed. Please note the nonstandard start time: This seminar begins at 4:30pm on our mezzanine and concludes at 6:30.
About Pedro Parra: Considered the world's preeminent wine soil scientist, Pedro Parra is a man obsessed with terroir. Born in Concepcion, near Bio Bio and Itata in southern Chile, Pedro has spent much of his life educating himself about the soils that make great wines all over the world. After earning a PhD in terroir from the Paris Centre of Agriculture, and with six years’ experience amongst the finest French terroirs, he has gone on to consult for cult producers like Jean-Marc Roulot, Marco Marengo, Liger-Belair, Chapter 24, Alkina, and Comando G. His own label, Pedro Parra Wines, celebrates his home region of Itata.
About Daniel Landi: Comando G cofounders Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia met studying oenology in Madrid. Bonding over their mutual love of wine, the two found themselves working in similar areas of Spain’s Sierra De Gredos mountain range, with Daniel working at his family's vineyard. The sites that Daniel and Fernando have assembled for Comando G are all farmed manually and biodynamically. The vines range from 50 to 80 years old and are planted on sandy soils weathered from granite, slate, and quartz. Comando G has been called one of the most exciting projects in all of Spain.
Seating is very limited for this exclusive seminar. The cost of this seminar is $50 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Please note the nonstandard start time: This seminar begins at 4:30pm on our mezzanine and concludes at 6:30.
We hope you can join us on Monday, March 3 on the mezzanine for this very special event.
