Jonatan Garcia Lima, proprietor of Suertes del Marques, is making wine in one of the most dramatic and difficult places to make wine in the world. On Wednesday, March 26 at 6pm, he'll join us on the mezzanine for a seminar on the incredible terroir of his Tenerife site in the Canary Islands.

Visiting the vineyards of Suertes del Marques is like going back in time. The own-rooted vines are up to 200 years old, many trained using a unique method to this area called Cordon Trenzado where the vines spread out in long braids of wood, some up to 15-20 feet from the mother trunk. He works with the traditional grapes of Listan Negro and Blanco, Malvasia Rosado, Vijariego, Baboso Negro, and more. We'll taste through this exciting lineup with Jonatan and take a look at this fascinating place through his eyes.

The cost of this seminar is $40 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available only to attendees. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Wednesday, March 26 for this special evening.

They even experiment with terracotta vessels to try to find the best way to let the wines evolve fully into themselves.

Grand Cru Grower Champagne from Flatiron Favorite Pierre Péters

Pierre Péters is one of Champagne’s most recognizable names, and one of its most famous Growers (Check out our handy guide to Grower Champagne). The estate is named after current proprietor Rodolphe Péters’ grandfather, and the family has been working vines in the Côte des Blancs’ best terroirs for nearly two centuries.

A Parade of Great Grand Crus (and One 1er Cru) from Dampt Frères

At its best, Chablis is about the most nakedly terroir-focused wine in France. And yet, mysteriously, it has remained the last reasonably-priced home of 1er and Grand Cru Burgundy. True, we’ve seen more and more of Chablis’ biggest names rise in price, but there are still great deals to be found — none of them more shocking than Dampt Frères' lineup of Grand Crus.
