Zlatan may be the best known Croatian producer, and if there is only one producer to get to know from this region, it would be Zlatan. This wine is from Sibernik (up the coast from Split). It's a dramatic area with steep slopes descending down to the Adriatic. The vines here are over 70 years old and the slopes are more than 50 degrees and in some places more than 70 degrees! Aged in used barrels for a couple of years, and then further in bottle for three years before release.
