Traditional Barolo at perfect maturity from one of Piedmont's most under-the-radar gems. The Manzone family has made wine in Monforte d'Alba since 1925—now run by the third generation. Their philosophy is resolutely non-interventionist: indigenous yeast fermentation, long macerations, and aging in large Slavonian oak casks rather than new French barriques. At 24 years old, this Le Gramolere has developed the ethereal complexity that only patient cellaring can achieve. Drink now through 2035.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 88
"Full red. Expressive aromas of raspberry, rose petal, brown spices, nuts and cedary oak. Sweet, spicy and fresh, with lush fruit lifted by pungent cinnamon and mace. The firmly tannic finish hints at leather and meat, but this wine comes across as distinctly less rustic than the 2000 example." -Stephen Tanzer

WS 95
"Gorgeous aromas of ripe fruit, spices and light cedar. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. This is balanced and wonderfully made, with great concentration. Great value too."
