Domaine de Cassiopée is part of the next generation redefining Maranges—an appellation once known more for rusticity than finesse. With organic farming and a light touch in the cellar, this domaine is bringing out the true character of the Côte de Beaune’s southernmost terroirs, and “Le Saugeot” is a standout single-vineyard bottling that shows just how good Maranges can be.

The 2022 vintage delivers ripe red cherry, crushed raspberry, and gentle spice, with a lifted, herbal edge and fine-grained tannins. There’s plenty of structure—Maranges always leans a little sturdier than Volnay or Beaune—but it’s handled with finesse. The wine is vinified with native yeasts, minimal sulfur, and gentle extraction, yielding a Pinot Noir that’s vibrant, earthy, and quietly expressive.

This is the kind of Burgundy that punches above its appellation: for fans of Santenay, Auxey-Duresses, or even natural-leaning Côte Chalonnaise, this brings serious charm and character without the Côte d'Or price tag.

Pair it with roast duck, mushroom tart, or Comté, and keep a few bottles around—it may surprise you how well it ages.

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
