Imagine a Meursault that tastes like time—this is Lafon's defining white, planted directly in front of the house on a vineyard that's been enclosed by stone walls for generations. The mixed-age vines (1950s to early 2000s) on steep, stony terrain ripen later than their neighbors, building layers of spice, hazelnut, and mineral tension that set this wine apart from typical village bottlings. You'll find stunning richness here, but with the structure to age gracefully for years. Made biodynamically with native yeast and restrained oak, Clos de la Barre is the wine that built this domaine's reputation.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2022 Meursault Clos-de-la-Barre has a backward nose that, despite coaxing, doesn't come out to "play." The palate is well-balanced with notes of tangerine and sour lemon, quite spicy towards the finish with satisfying length. The aromatics will require two or three years to step up a gear." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2022 Meursault Clos de la Barre has turned out very well in bottle, delivering an attractive bouquet of pear, citrus oil, freshly baked bread and toasted hazelnuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive palate, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. Along with the terrific 2020, this gets my nod as the finest Clos de le Barre in recent years." -William Kelley

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
