This is Lafon's defining white, planted directly behind the house on a vineyard that's been enclosed by stone walls for generations. The mixed-age vines (1950s to early 2000s) on stony terrain ripen later than their neighbors, building layers of spice, hazelnut, and mineral tension that set this wine apart from typical village bottlings. There is stunning richness here with the structure to age gracefully for years. Grown biodynamically, vinified with native yeasts and restrained oak, Clos de la Barre is the best deal from this domaine.
