Founded in 1798, Jacquesson has an incredible history in Champagne, a favorite of Napoleon and a pioneer of innovation in the region (having patented the wire hood and metal crown stopper still in use today). The estate is located in Dizy, in the heart of Grande Vallée de la Marne. A Flatiron customer and staff favorite, Jacquesson is in the spotlight on Friday, October 24 on the Flatiron Wine School mezzanine in honor of Fête du Champagne.

Presenter Laura Masero recently joined Artemis Domaines as Sales Director. Laura, originally from Sancerre in the Loire Valley, comes from many years of expertise in Champagne. She had the opportunity to run Champagne Billecart-Salmon at T. Edward Wines for several years and then joined Grand Cru Selections as a Champagne specialist. She now proudly represents Champagne Jacquesson. Come join Laura Masero to discover the new release of this iconic house.

Together we'll taste:
Cuvee 747 (base 2019)
Cuvee 748 (base 2020)
Cuvee 743 Degorgement Tardif (base 2015)
Les Terres Rouges 2015

The cost of this seminar is $50 and a $20 credit at the store will be extended to each guest for a future purchase. Seating is limited and special pricing on the featured wines will be made available to attendees only. We hope you can join us on the mezzanine at 6pm on Friday, October 24 for this special evening.

Artemis owns some vineyards — most of which are over a hundred years old — and maintains good relationships with smaller growers.

Second Bite at the Apple: Picq Chablis 2022s

Now, if you're new to these newsletters, you might not know what all the fuss is about. The TL;DR is that the Picq family is among Chablis' great producers -- but one that has no grand cru vineyards, no blockbuster collectibles, and that therefore has stayed outside the field of vision of international collectors.

Lunch with Anthony Lynch, and the wine that stole the show.

Anthony Lynch (son of legendary importer Kermit Lynch) came to New York last week and brought a few special bottles from their Berkeley cellar to lunch, including 2007 Vacqueyras Le Sang des Cailloux and Thierry Allemand’s 2005 Cornas Reynard. But the surprise winner with the food was a Corsican red, the 2020 Antoine Arena Patrimonio Rouge, "Morta Maio.”
