More about Laird's

Laird's is the original American apple brandy, and still a family business. The company traces its roots to William Laird, a Scot who settled in Monmouth County, New Jersey, in 1698. It dates its official start to 1780, the first recorded commercial sale of its cider spirits, which makes it America's oldest family-owned licensed distillery. Robert Laird served under George Washington during the Revolution, and the family still runs the company today.

Distilling moved from New Jersey to North Garden, Virginia, in the 1970s, and the apples come from central Virginia; aging and bottling still happen at the home base in Scobeyville. The range runs from the classic blended Applejack (apple brandy blended with neutral spirits, a cocktail staple) to the 100-proof Bottled in Bond Straight Apple Brandy, aged at least four years, and older straight apple brandies.
