What is this wine?
Benjamin Leroux’s Volnay 2014 is a refined red Burgundy from one of the region’s most talented modern winemakers. Leroux, formerly of Domaine du Comte Armand, sources fruit from several sustainably farmed parcels in Volnay, a village famed for producing some of the Côte de Beaune’s most elegant Pinot Noir. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak (around 20–25% new), this cuvée reflects Leroux’s hallmark style—precision, purity, and terroir expression.

Why get this wine?
Benjamin Leroux is renowned for crafting benchmark-level wines across Burgundy, often rivaling top domaines. The 2014 vintage yielded graceful, aromatic reds with fine acidity and balance—ideal for drinkers who appreciate classic, understated Burgundy. This Volnay captures the village’s signature perfume and silkiness while showing the depth and poise of Leroux’s meticulous craftsmanship.

What does this wine taste like?
Delicate aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal unfold with hints of spice, earth, and mineral. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a long, floral finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Drink now through 2030 for peak enjoyment. Decant gently to release its perfume. Excellent with roast duck, mushroom dishes, or herb-crusted salmon.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"Medium red. Raspberry and red cherry aromas are complicated by chocolate, menthol and wild herbs. Precise and firmly built, showing good juicy acid cut. A lovely village wine with very good balance and persistence. About half of this cuvée is young vines from the premier cru Santenots." -Stephen Tanzer
