From ancient pre-phylloxera vines on volcanic soils in the heart of Campania, Guastaferro’s Taurasi is a wine of depth, tradition, and serious aging potential. In 2004, that potential has come fully alive—what was once firm and brooding is now layered, supple, and hauntingly complex.

The nose is a swirl of dried black cherry, leather, tobacco leaf, and volcanic earth, with hints of licorice and dried herbs emerging as it opens. On the palate, it’s still structured but mellowed—tannins softened into silk, acidity giving lift and freshness, and a long, savory finish that echoes with smoke and spice. There’s a quiet grandeur here—more about depth and texture than flash.

Perfect alongside braised meats, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. For lovers of old Barolo, Brunello, or other soulful reds that reward time and patience, this is a rare chance to experience Aglianico at full maturity—still vibrant, but wise with age.
