Radda Sangiovese with the patience of a different era. Paolo Cianferoni has farmed Caparsa organically since 1982, working a small estate in the cool highlands of Radda in Chianti and aging his wines longer than nearly anyone else in the zone. The 2022 Chianti Classico is pure Sangiovese fermented with native yeasts and raised slowly in cement, which keeps the fruit transparent and the structure savory rather than polished. 2022 was a warm Tuscan vintage, but Radda's altitude and Caparsa's fresh exposures gave the wine real lift — sour cherry, dried violet, a swirl of woodland herb, and that classic Radda salinity on the close. A traditional Chianti Classico from one of the appellation's most quietly principled producers.
