Nicolas Catena did more than anyone to prove Argentina could make serious wine, and he did it by going up, planting Malbec at altitudes most of the wine world considered lunatic at the time. The Classic is the doorway into that thinking. The fruit comes from the family's high-elevation Mendoza vineyards, where fierce sun and cold nights deliver ripeness and firm acidity in the same glass. It's dark and plush, with blackberry, plum and a lift of violet, the tannins polished smooth and a touch of oak spice sitting in the background. Nothing complicated here, and nothing shy either. This is the Malbec you open when steak is happening.
