Côte de Léchet is one of the Left Bank Premier Crus of Chablis — a south- and east-facing limestone slope outside the village of Milly, prized for its combination of ripeness and mineral cut. Vincent Dampt, son of Daniel Dampt (and grandson of Jean Defaix), who founded his own estate in Milly in 2003, treats this site as a step up from his village wine: same Kimmeridgian backbone, more concentration, more depth, and more structural promise for the cellar. Expect a step up in everything — broader citrus, white peach, hazelnut, oyster-shell salinity, and that classic Chablis tension stretched longer across the palate. Drinkable now but built to reward a few years in the cellar.

"There is an interesting hint of wet chalk to the fresh and bright aromas of algae, seashore, citrus rind and Granny Smith apple. Like the Vaillons, I very much like the texture of the middle weight flavors that possess both a lovely sense of underlying tension as well as evident minerality on the impressively persistent and more complex finale. This is very promising and one to consider."

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Step up the seafood: roast turbot or halibut, lobster with drawn butter, scallops with brown butter and hazelnut, or a creamy mushroom risotto. Also a gorgeous Comté or aged Gruyère match.

Tasting Profile

Concentrated and cut: broader citrus, white peach, hazelnut, and oyster-shell salinity over Kimmeridgian backbone. Classic Chablis tension stretched longer — structured, mineral, with serious cellar promise.
