This is the way into one of Champagne's most uncompromising small growers, and it's a Meunier-led blend that only gets made when the Meunier is good enough. In years when it isn't, as in 2017, Alexandre Lamblot skips Intuition and makes a different cuvée. Intuition is his starting cuvée, built from Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown on the 3.5 hectares he farms around Vrigny, Chenay, Janvry and Gueux in the Petite Montagne de Reims. Some of those vines came down through his family and the rest he rents and farms himself. Jérôme Prévost is the one who tipped off his importer, and the comparison that followed tells you the company these wines keep: Cédric Bouchard's brooding power mixed with Prévost's Meunier complexity. Almost everything is done by hand. Lamblot braids the vines in winter, picks into flat bins that hold the bunches in a single layer, presses slowly in a traditional wooden press, ferments with native yeasts in mostly used barrels, then riddles and disgorges every bottle by hand. His priority is to make the best possible base wine first and add the bubbles as a second dimension. As a Brut Nature, this one has no added sugar to hide behind, and that's exactly why it's worth opening.

"Lamblot's latest NV Brut Nature Intuition Nature, disgorged in December 2025 and derived from the 2023 vintage, emerges from the glass with aromas of autumn apples, spice and elderflower mingled with subtle acetone-like nuances. Medium-bodied, it combines a sweet core of fruit with tangy acids but lacks depth through the mid-palate and definition on the finish." —Kristaps Karklins

More about A. Lamblot

Alexandre Lamblot is the 13th generation of his family making wine and honestly, he's operating like he invented something new. He's got 4 hectares in Montagne de Reims, fertilizes with a mobile chicken coop, braids his vines' shoots to trade heat in winter, and ferments each plot separately in a wooden basket press—all by hand. No sulfites, no fining, no shortcuts. The result? Bone-dry champagnes with real soul, and he's got some serious friends in New York backing him up already.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Gougères; raw oysters with mignonette; smoked trout rillettes on toast; aged Comté; roast chicken with morels; Japanese-style fried chicken (karaage) with lemon.

Tasting Profile

Expect a vinous, Meunier-led Champagne: red apple, pear and red berry fruit with a savoury, nutty edge from fermentation in used barrels. With no dosage it finishes bone-dry, taut and mineral, though the soft, fine mousse gives it a creamy texture. Think of a more winey, textured take on a classic Brut.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
