When the domaine that owns seventy percent of Grand Cru Musigny bottles a village Chambolle-Musigny, you pay attention. Comte Georges de Vogüé traces its history to 1450 and holds extraordinary parcels in both Musigny and Bonnes-Mares. The village wine comes primarily from Les Porlottes, a well-situated climat on limestone with stony soils, vinified by the legendary François Millet who oversaw winemaking from 1986 to 2019. The 2005 Burgundy vintage is one for the ages: a thrilling combination of exceptional ripeness and bright acidity that produced wines of intense concentration and remarkable aging potential. This village Chambolle captures that energy—intense red berry fruit that is ripe, sweet, and transparent, with elegant minerality and impeccable balance. From a domaine of this stature in a vintage of this caliber, the village wine offers a rare window into some of Burgundy's finest terroir. Still developing, with years ahead.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"Good medium red. High-pitched, slightly exotic aromas of raspberry and wild mint. Sweet, silky and rich but at the same time light and lively, with lovely purity and perfume to its fruit and mint flavors. Finishes broad and seductive, with lovely lingering perfume. Firmly built, but I find this harmonious from the get-go." -Stephen Tanzer

"From young vines in Musigny plus non-cru parcels, the de Vogue 2005 Chambolle-Musigny does indeed exhibit the character of black raspberry sorbet, ripe yet somehow “cool” with lovely clarity and wafting florality, a hint of wood smoke, and a bright, invigorating cling of ripe black raspberry fruit. This nicely restrained yet well-concentrated wine will drink beautifully in the short run but deserves at least 3-5 years of rest to make good on its potential." -David Schildknecht
