Grands-Échézeaux is one of Burgundy's most majestic grand crus, bordering the famed Clos de Vougeot. Louis Jadot, founded in 1859 and now one of Burgundy's most respected négociants, sources from prime parcels across the appellation. The 2010 vintage in Burgundy was exceptional—a cool year that produced wines of extraordinary precision and aging potential. Now with 15 years of bottle age, this wine is entering a glorious drinking window: the powerful tannins have softened, revealing layers of dark fruit, spice, and forest floor. Classic Grands-Échézeaux: power tempered by finesse. Decant 1-2 hours before serving.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 95
"A stunningly complex nose of black fruit, warm earth, game and a plethora of spice notes gives way to broad-shouldered, powerful and overtly muscular flavors that are firm and intense but not rustic as the compact tannins are more than well-buffered by the plenitude of dry extract on the mouth coating, explosive and hugely persistent finish. This is robust but in a sleek and athletic fashion rather than that of a sumo wrestler."

"The 2010 Grands Echézeaux shows significantly more energy and floral lift than the Echézeaux. Spices, mint, flowers and graphite are some of the notes that develop in the glass, adding considerable depth and richness to the fruit. Layers of fruit build to the explosive, dazzling finish. This is breathtaking juice." -Antonio Galloni

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
