Vosne-Romanée is one of the most coveted village names in Burgundy, so a bottle from a domaine most drinkers haven't heard of yet is worth a second look. Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is based in Flagey-Échezeaux and rarely exported its wines until recently. Now, under Claire Fleurot's direction, the house is starting to get real attention. They make only Pinot Noir, with a precision and reverence that suit this village, and they farm traditionally. This is their village-level Vosne-Romanée, not the separate Premier Cru, and it's built for elegance and a light touch rather than power. It's a chance to drink Vosne from a producer before everyone else catches on.
