The rarest bottling from Dumien-Serrette, this cuvée is named for Henri Dumien and made from the estate's oldest vines in Patou—some over 100 years old. Only two barrels were produced in 2023. Like the Patou, it's 100% Syrah made with partial whole-cluster fermentation and aged two years in older barrels. The result is a wine of profound concentration and elegance: the perfumed character of ancient vines married to supple tannins from the decomposed granite terroir. A once-per-release opportunity.

More about Dumien-Serrette

Nicolas Serrette tends a throwback 4-acre Cornas vineyard with vines going back to the 1920s—some exceed 100 years. He treads his organic grapes by foot, uses an old-fashioned basket press, ferments on indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, and ages in older French oak. This is pure Syrah, deeply colored and robustly structured—the true soul of Cornas.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

Over the years Gilbert's neighbor, Noël Verset, continually asked Gilbert why he didn't make a special bottling of only his oldest vineyards. Now that Nicolas is managing the domaine with him, they decided to give it a try and made just two barrels from "Patou" vineyards that are more than 100 years old. They named the cuvée after Gilbert's father-in-law, Henri Dumien.
