Genot-Boulanger is an under-the-radar Burgundy domaine that helps keep good wine flowing at fair prices, and this Pommard comes from Les Cras, the rockier site at the bottom of the slope. The name Cras traces to coteau pierreux, or stony hillside, and that stony soil gives the wine cut and definition. Based in Meursault with holdings across the Cote d'Or, the domaine makes serious, terroir-true reds as well as whites. Pommard is classically structured, so give this a little time or decant it for dinner tonight.

More about Genot-Boulanger

Since 1974, Génot-Boulanger has crafted elegant, terroir-driven wines across 22 hectares in Meursault and beyond. Guillaume and Aude Lavollée (the founders' children) bring modern vision while respecting Burgundian tradition. They've spent the last decade converting to organic, working with horses, hand-harvesting before over-ripeness. The whites taste pure.
