Vietti practically invented modern Arneis: back in 1967, Alfredo Currado rescued this nearly-extinct Piedmontese white grape and made it a serious wine, earning the title 'father of Arneis.' This Roero Arneis is the benchmark, an unoaked, dry white grown in the sandy hills north of the Langhe. Expect fresh aromas of white flowers, pear, citrus and a signature almond note, all in a crisp, balanced, easy-drinking package. It's the perfect Italian aperitif white. Drink it young and cold.

One of the great names in Barolo, based in Castiglione Falletto. Vietti changed how the Langhe thinks about terroir when Alfredo Currado bottled the 1961 Barolo from the Rocche vineyard on its own, widely cited as the first single-vineyard Barolo. Rocche di Castiglione and the other crus are among the most sought-after Barolos today, while the Barolo Castiglione blend is a smart buy nearly every vintage. The style sits down the middle: neither old-school nor modern, just focused on site.
