More about Keuka Spring

Keuka Spring is a true Finger Lakes family winery: started from scratch by Len and Judy Wiltberger, still run by the family, and quietly one of the region's most consistent sources of Riesling.

In the early 1980s the Wiltbergers bought around 30 acres on the east side of Keuka Lake, near Penn Yan, and planted their first vines in 1981 with help from Len's sisters. The first vintage followed in 1985. Their four children grew up in the business and remain involved, and the tasting room overlooking the lake is a fixture of the Keuka wine trail.

The original plantings were Chardonnay, Riesling, Seyval Blanc and Vignoles, later joined by Lemberger, Cabernet Franc and Gewürztraminer. The winery also buys from growers it knows well around Keuka and Seneca Lakes, all within New York State. The range is broad, but Riesling is the heart of it, made in styles from dry to sweet, alongside Chardonnay and cool-climate reds. Expect clean, bright, fruit-forward wines with the Finger Lakes' signature acidity.
