Famille Moussé’s Champagne Terre d’Illite Extra Brut 2020 is a captivating exploration of terroir-driven Champagne. Crafted predominantly from Pinot Meunier, a hallmark of the Vallée de la Marne, this wine reflects the unique influence of Illite clay soils on its character. Farming is fully organic, and the winemaking process is gentle and transparent, emphasizing native yeast fermentations and aging in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak.

More about Famille Mousse

Growers since 1750 in the village of Cuisles, in a side valley off the Marne, Famille Moussé is now run by fourth-generation Cédric Moussé, who farms organically, runs the cellar on solar and geothermal power, and lets sheep, pigs and chickens work the vines. Meunier is the star here, about 80% of the vineyard, and the band of green illite clay under Cuisles gives it a lift and finesse that makes the case for Champagne's underdog grape.
