Isle Saint-Pierre isn't a fantasy name—it’s an actual island in the Rhône delta, just a few miles from the Mediterranean coast. Windswept and sun-soaked, it’s a surprising place to grow grapes, but that’s exactly what makes this wine so special.

This is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Carmenere and Arinarnoa (a rare Bordeaux crossing), grown sustainably and vinified to preserve freshness. The result? A featherweight red that’s all about juicy berries, gentle herbs, and a flicker of spice. No oak, no heaviness—just pure, gulpable joy.

Despite its southern roots, the wine drinks more like a chilled Gamay or a Loire red: low alcohol, zippy acidity, and a thirst-quenching, everyday appeal. It’s the kind of red you can throw in the fridge and pair with everything from pizza to grilled veggies to nothing at all.

A longtime sleeper hit for good reason—this is island wine for real life.

More about Isle Saint-Pierre

Sitting on a small island in the Rhône River, this domaine founded in 1927 has passed through generations—now run by fourth-generation vigneron Julien Henry. The terroir is quirky: island-life delivers ripe fruit with an almost salty edge that defines the house style. These are wines that feel place-bound in a way that mainland Rhône rarely achieves.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Polaner Selections has to say about this wine:

Varietal Notes20% of each : Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Arinarnoa, CarménèreVineyard200 hectares on an island by the mouth of the Rhone river.SoilSand, silt, alluvial soils of the RhoneViticultureSustainable, no weed-killers, no synthetic fertilizers.VinificationClassic, no special technology, just a temperature control with cooled panels during the fermentation in oreder to keep the genuine fruit. Varietals are macerating and fermenting separately, during +/- 20 days. The blend is achieved to reach the typical fruity-spicy character of this wine (Merlot and Cabernet Franc) but also to bring some nice structure and add a layer of complexity (Arinarnoa and Petit Verdot).AgingAged in tank
