More about Aperol

Aperol was created in 1919 by brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri in Padua, after seven years of tinkering. The recipe is a secret, but gentian, rhubarb and cinchona are part of it. At 11% alcohol it's lighter and gentler than most bitters: bright orange, bittersweet, with a zesty citrus snap. Now part of the Campari Group, it's the soul of Italian aperitivo culture and the foundation of the Spritz. Some things are classics for a reason.
