Corza Beoda means, more or less, "the drunken roe deer," which tells you roughly how seriously Jade Gross takes convention. She grew up in Hong Kong, took a master's in human rights, then cooked in the kitchens of Mugaritz and El Celler de Can Roca before walking away from restaurants entirely to make wine in Rioja starting in 2019. She belongs to a young cohort rebuilding the region around site and freshness instead of the old formula of oak and extraction. This is Tempranillo and Garnacha handled with a light touch: juicy and unfussy, built on crunch and lift rather than muscle. Give it a slight chill and it disappears from the glass alarmingly fast.
