A Scotch whisky aged entirely in Kentucky ex-bourbon barrels — American white oak from start to finish. That single decision is the whole point: Johnnie Walker built Black Cask to bridge two whisky worlds, putting the vanilla-and-caramel sweetness of American whiskey underneath Scottish blending craft. Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker assembled it from whiskies pulled from the heart of Black Label, including Cameronbridge, Glen Elgin and Roseisle, so the DNA is familiar even if the profile isn't. It's a new permanent member of the core range rather than a limited novelty, bottled at 43%, and it's built as much for the mixing glass as for the rocks glass. Johnnie Walker's own suggestion is to point it straight at an Old Fashioned.

Perfect Pairings

Salted caramel or pecan pie, aged cheddar, a maple-glazed pork chop, or bourbon-style barbecue — sticky ribs and burnt ends. Also very good alongside dark chocolate and roasted nuts, or mixed into an Old Fashioned or a Gold Rush with honey and lemon.

Tasting Profile

Creamy vanilla and caramel on the nose, with gentle baking spice and a touch of oak warmth. Neat, over ice, or in cocktails.
