The 2022 Joseph Drouhin Marquis de Laguiche Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru “Morgeot” is a dazzling expression of Chardonnay from one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s most prestigious Premier Cru vineyards. The Marquis de Laguiche label represents some of the finest wines produced by Joseph Drouhin, crafted from a vineyard site that benefits from the ideal combination of limestone-rich soils and a slightly warmer microclimate, resulting in wines of both power and finesse.

In the glass, this wine glows with a radiant golden hue. The nose is captivating and complex, offering aromas of ripe white peach, pear, and Meyer lemon, interwoven with notes of acacia blossoms, toasted almonds, and a delicate touch of vanilla from refined oak aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a creamy texture supported by vibrant acidity. Layers of citrus, orchard fruit, and subtle honeyed nuances are underscored by a chalky minerality, leading to a long, elegant finish with a whisper of spice.

The 2022 vintage, marked by a warm growing season, lends richness and opulence to the wine while preserving its hallmark freshness and precision. This Premier Cru Chardonnay is an ideal pairing for dishes such as lobster in beurre blanc, roasted chicken with truffle, or creamy mushroom risotto. While delightful now for its expressive fruit and supple texture, it has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next 8–12 years, rewarding patience with additional depth and complexity. The Marquis de Laguiche “Morgeot” is a quintessential example of the Joseph Drouhin philosophy, combining tradition, elegance, and exceptional quality.

Joseph Drouhin is, of course, one of the great names of Burgundy. A rare producer that makes fantastic wines across the whole range of prices. Their Musigny is one of Burgundy's most sought-after bottles. But their "everyday-priced" wines are some of the greatest values year in and year out. And in between those extremes, they have a whole range of perfectly terroir expressive wines that over-deliver for price, including gems like the legendary Cotes their Beaune Clos des Mouches, offering close to Grand Cru quality at decidedly lower prices.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche), picked September 2 to 5, has a delineated bouquet with apple blossom, peach skin and light honeysuckle aromas that bloom in the glass. The palate is wellbalanced with good substance and a better acidic spine than the preceding Meursault Genevrières. There is commendable weight and depth on the finish. Drink over the next 12 to 15 years." -Vinous

"Aromas of honeyed orchard fruits, buttery pastry, peaches, toasted nuts and spices introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's rich, glossy and unctuous, with all the fat and texture typical of this bottling."
