Morten Hallgren grew up in his family's Provence vineyards, trained in Montpellier, and ran the cellar at Dr. Konstantin Frank before he and his wife Lisa founded Ravines in 2000. Back when 'dry' Riesling in the Finger Lakes often meant off-dry, they committed to the real thing: mineral, bone-dry and terroir-driven. Today they farm about 130 sustainably certified acres on Keuka and Seneca Lakes, including the Argetsinger Vineyard above Seneca. Old World restraint, serious cool-climate wines.
