Koenig was founded in 1960 by Emille Koenig as the first kosher wine cellar in France, originally serving the Alsatian Jewish community of Strasbourg. Since 2014, production has been handled by Willy Gisselbrecht winery in Dambach-la-Ville at the foot of the Vosges mountains—a family with winemaking roots dating to the 1600s. Gisselbrecht owns approximately 17 hectares including Grand Cru Frankstein. Of their 900,000 annual bottles, 60,000 are kosher (95% under the Koenig label). Certified kosher under supervision of the Beth-Din of Strasbourg. Classic Alsatian Riesling with the added assurance of kosher production.
